Wrongful Conviction
This conviction is not just about Carlos Watson — it's part of a broader pattern in America’s history of tearing down Black excellence. From Tulsa’s Black Wall Street to Franklin Raines, Robert Smith, Stan O’Neal, and many more, Black leaders who achieve success are too often brought down. Watson’s case is yet another chapter in this troubling saga.

Key evidence was excluded, included 2 additional confession letters of, Samir Rao, that confirmed he "without consulting anyone else" was responsible for the impersonation call of a YouTube Executive.

"And so absurdly, stupidly, without consulting anyone else, I set up a reference call and tried to pass myself off as the reference (a YouTube executive, where we were publishing original content) to get it
[the Goldman Sachs deal] done with." – Samir Rao

The Judge also excluded evidence from an independent outside CFO firm, CXOTech, that OZY’s revenue was actually higher than initially stated, not lower. (see OZY Revenue Chart) OZY’s business model was so appealing that many other companies tried to acquire them, including Buzzfeed (See Buzzfeed Offer Letter).
